Girls, Girls, Girls!

I can't begin to describe the feeling of joy and elation when I learned my 8th grandchild will be a girl. Of course, I love all three of my handsome boys. This excitement has to do with timing. The new little girl Oster has a sister just two years older and a cousin a year older. I can see the three girls growing up and having so much fun together.

Like my daughters, I love the sister dynamics. It's always thrilled me that my two daughters are so close and always have been. My own sister, Donna, means the world to me so I understand this bond between sisters. That Baylee will share it with her sister, just as her Mom and Aunt Angela have shared so much, and Donna and I are blessed, is the real reason I am happy that we're having a girl. As Memaw, I will gladly embrace each child that comes along. What makes it even more exciting is another generation of sisters will discover the joy of having each other. We're counting the days until we can hold little sister in our arms.

The Joy of Having Young Grandsons!

I was flattered twice this week by Thomas and Jude, both four. Thomas was in my arms giving one of those lingering hugs when he asked, "when I get big, can I marry you, Memaw?". I melted! And since grandsons are safe, I assured him I'd love to marry such a handsome boy.

A few days later I was talking to Jude on the phone and told him this next weekend we'd go on a trip to Houston to see Aunt Angela and his cousins. I said that Memaw and Papa would stay in the same hotel as him, his mom and Baylee. He asked if he could sleep with me! Then, when we talked about swimming in the hotel pool, he was excited and asked if I had a bathing suit. I assured him that I did, and he got excited that I'd be playing in the pool with him.

Now, let's go forward to about 10 years from now. The thought of marrying Memaw would place a revolting look on Thomas's face. Jude wouldn't even want to think about sleeping with Memaw and the last thing he'd want to see is Memaw in a bathing suit. Ah, the innocence of childhood. I will wallow in their adoration for now, before they grow up and look at Memaw in a totally different light. What a blessing all of them are to me!

Blog Novel Idea

Angela thought it'd be neat to start a mini novel on this site and perhaps add a few paragraphs each day. What subject matter would interest you? I'm open to suggestions.

This is a thrilling moment!!! Here's my first proof of my book cover!!! I will be making minor changes, like omitting the quotation marks, putting my name in the lower left, and using the two signs for the book's name. My pride in Angela and her artwork is vast. I will be so proud to show off her beautiful artwork! She's the first one I called when the cover was posted on the AuthorHouse site. What a wonderful gift I received on Ashton's birthday - him 3 years ago, and my book cover today!
Today is grandson Ashton's 3rd birthday. His Mom (Angela) was up early hanging birthday banners and balloons at the front of the house. Together they made him a chocolate birthday cake. This evening they will be celebrating with a few friends. My package arrived for him yesterday and I gave him permission to tear into it the minute it was delivered. Happy birthday, Handsome Guy!

This is exciting! My granddaughter, Candice Venters, 15, has been a member of Teen Court for a few years now. She is a prosecutor and argues her point quite effectively. Many lawyers, including one who heard her last night, have said her closing arguements are awesome! She has a real talent for this and I wouldn't be surprised if we have an attorney in the family someday. Way to go, Candy Girl!!!
Bravo to Angela, my daughter, for the excellent work she did on my book covers!! I'm so proud of them and can't wait until they are ready to post on this site. My design team at the publisher said her cover design puts my book up there with the best authors. I hope "don't judge a book by its cover" doesn't apply! Meaning, I hope when the cover catches a reader's eye, he/she isn't disappointed with the story. All those years of art lessons have really paid off. On top of that, her degree is in Fine Arts. Even if she wasn't my daughter, I'd say she's the best artist around!

Allison, my other daughter, is having her sonogram next week. At first, they decided they wouldn't find out the sex of the child, which was driving Memaw nuts. Now, it seems they are giving in. I can't wait to find out! There will still be the mystery of hair color, blond like Jude, or brunette like Baylee. No matter how many grandchildren come along, each one is so special and so eagerly anticipated.

Please visit my daughter's (Angela) blog site at thepaintedhouse.blogspot.com. She has some beautiful pictures of her family and I'd love to show them off.

This week we will be moving our offices next door into a building that used to be a house. We'll have a lovely front porch, garage, and I have hardwood floors and a fireplace in my office. Our shop area will remain where it is next door. Our address and phone number are the same too.

Welcome to my blog page! This is a new experience for me, so bear with me. I will have photos and information as they are available.

Currently, I am publishing my books, "Simon Says", books one and two. I hope to keep you updated on their progress. Book one is close to becoming "live" and book two isn't far behind.

My daughter, Allison, is going to have a baby in November! This is number 8 for me and they are all precious!

Robin and I will head to Houston the end of this month to see daughter Angela and her family. She and Clayton will be here from North Carolina to spend their 10th anniversary at a resort in Mexico. Grandparents will keep the little darlings, Ashton and Juliet. I'm sooooo anxious to see them!

Robin and I are trying to book a condo week at the beach somewhere along the Texas coast. He's really wanting to go deep-sea fishing while I continue writing a book on my laptop. With the current shape of my body, I prefer writing over lounging by the pool!

My friend Patty is treating us both to a cruise on October 1. We will visit Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Cozumel, Mexico. We are hoping for a mild hurricane season!

Contact me and let me know about you!
